I came to photography from a place of needing to solve a problem.
—Curtis Durham, owner
My wife and I had taken the plunge and started a business in 2005. She was really into skincare and I had worked as an engineer in process, electronics manufacturing, and aerospace design. Our beauty (her) and the beast (me) team worked well together, her on the front end and myself on the back developing processes to make that skincare company hum. One thing was missing, however, images that reflected the hard work and quality we put into the products we made and sold.
So, like any other engineer faced with an issue, I did some research and taught myself product photography. The variables that cameras and studio lights present were new, but not unfamiliar. Photography, for me, had become a space to solve problems and create solutions in the form of fantastic images that captured the essence of a thing.
